About Anette V. Nieves, M.D.
Anette V. Nieves, M.D. graduated from University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus and completed her internship at San Juan City Hospital. She completed residency in Neurology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey (UMDNJ), where she was the Chief Resident. In 1999 she began a Fellowship in Movement Disorders at the University of Toronto. This training was with Dr. Anthony E. Lang, one of the world's foremost experts in Movement Disorders. In 2001 she accepted a faculty position and returned to the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she created and became the medical director of a surgical subdivision for Movement Disorders in the department of Neurology.
Dr. Nieves relocated in July of 2007 to bring her expertise to Florida. She joined Jay J. Rubin, M.D., P.A. in the office practice of Neurological Associates. In addition, she became the Medical Director of the Movement Disorders Clinic at Ocala Regional Medical Center, where she collaborates with a highly experienced neurosurgeon, Daniel Robertson, M.D. of Ocala Neurosurgical Center. Dr. Nieves and Dr. Robertson are expanding the existing and highly successful program of deep brain stimulation for patients requiring this treatment. Their goal is to provide the highest quality of medical and surgical care in Movement Disorders.
